I was blown away by my visit to CalleSol in Plaza Midwood for lunch today! I knew I was in for a treat walking up as the building exterior was bright and covered with art. You walk in, and the charm continues with a Miami flare.
It took me a while to figure out what I was ordering, as everything sounded delicious! Find a little bit of everything on their menu, from Ceviche to Cuban Sandwiches to fried rice! I was delighted to find that this Miami dining experience wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. There were plenty of options under $10, including a walk-up lunch area with $9 meal options with two sides.
I decided on half of a Miami Cuban Sandwich with a side of Sweet Plantains and Croquetas as an appetizer. The Cuban sandwich was everything it should be, which can be hard to find! It had the perfect amount of crispiness in combination with the fresh-tasting ham and lechon. I’ve had Cuban sandwiches in Miami, and I can easily say this Cuban sandwich from Calle Sol hit the spot as the best I’ve had!
I can also say the same about the croquetas! Flavor packed and let’s not even talk about their Cilantro Aioli! I needed extra!
As for drinks, we ordered mimosas which were big and were made with fresh squeezed orange juice!
We ordered Rum Flights but had no idea what we were actually ordering. We were expecting little rum cocktails and instead we got three shots of Rum! A little heavy for lunch but we managed.
The staff was so friendly and welcoming. One of the waiters asked what we were celebrating when he saw us with our three shots at 12 pm on a Monday! We let him know we were celebrating a birthday and he later brought out a birthday treat! Their Guava Maria dessert was a 10/10 – you must try it if you visit!
My friend tried their ceviche, and she said it was delicious, I plan to try it next with their mojo fries!
