Listen up if you like Jamaican or Caribbean food! Island Grill & Pub of Rock Hill serves up some of the best Jamaican food in town! This Caribbean restaurant is a hidden gem that opened 2+ years ago. I’ve been a regular since they opened, and the food is consistently delicious each time!
Here are the deets:
Jamaican beef patties are made with a rich, flaky yellow pastry dough filled with seasoned ground beef. These Jamaican Beef Patties are similar to baked empanadas but are classically Jamaican in flavor. The hearty beef filling isn’t overly spicy, so I always add hot sauce for an extra kick.
I always order their Jerk Chicken combo because it brings everything a girl needs! Starting with the juicy chicken with brown stew sauce, it’s the perfect combo of sweet and tangy and oh-so-satisfying. Next is their rice & peas and steamed cabbage salad, and I can’t do without the sweet plantains, so I always order extra.
The highlight of my last visit was the ginger lemonade, which was so refreshing and delicious with the perfect amount of ginger sweetness. I also got to try their Jamaican Rum Punch, which tasted like juice!
The owner, Christopher, owned a few restaurants in New York before bringing his Jamaican flavors to Rock Hill, SC. Christopher is always around, ensuring each guest has an enjoyable experience, which is why Island Grill & Pub is at the top of my list of places to eat in Rock Hill.
